Effort through a Penny…

Artists who create masterpieces in miniature such as these tiny paintings should not be appreciated only for their creativity, but also for their effort.

Artist, Jacqueline Lou Skaggs, the painter of these creative masterpieces, fresh thoughts came into existence when instead of discarding the pennies, mixing them with other coins for the supermarket tab. She instead decided to keep them as the forms of art that they are, instead of discarded copper. Even down to the exhibition of her masterpieces was thought out. These paintings represent a tribute to the concepts of family, religion and  political worlds.  The real faces of the coins are now in the background, and the masterpieces stand.

The body contour configuration recalls our desire to lounge and when my when you think of your dead battery and no where to plug in, this is where the rocker’s solar panels takes on the spotlight.

These solar panels allows the placement of outlets where you can plug in any of your gadgets outdoors.

Think of the outlet as a static architectural element that is now transformed to a dynamic engineered,  body of aesthetics,  absorbing solar energy, and explodes light in the evening.

Designer Wang Can knew one of the major challenges for those effected by natural flood disasters is finding clean drinking water. The Source of Water concept aims to help those in need get clean water quickly and conveniently. The design is based on a simple principle that water pressure around the tube will push through the purifying layers, producing drinkable water with very little effort. The user simply has to drop the tubular filter in the center of the cross within the buoyant ring and remove when full.

The Well Proven Chair by Marjan van Aubel + Jamie Shaw

London-based designers, Marjan van Aubel + Jamie Shaw tackled issues of sustainability and creativity with this thought of freshnezz.  As they put sustainability in the forefront, they understood there is 50% to 80% of timber waste during manufacturing.  With this in mind they investigated ways in which they could incorporate waste shavings in their design with the use of bio-resin.  During this investigation they noticed a chemical reaction which seemed to be created when scraps are mixed within the resin, in addition to water, air trapped in material and increased temperatures causing the foam to expand nearly 600 to 700%.  These designers continued to manipulate the material by adding colour dye and various sized shavings and all manipulations can be done with your hand where you can building up the material wherever extra strength is needed.
